Become a Blogger!

Be a Blogger!

Why be a blogger?

Being a blogger is an extremely good experience in so many ways! If you love writing about things that happen either to you or to your college, let us know and you can join!
You can edit the blog, eat biscuits and basically have a great time!

What can the blogs be about?

Absolutely anything, but they need to be something that people will be interested in, like awards, assemblies, shows or charity events. They also need to be relevant, you can’t talk about something that your mate in Trinity did, but something someone did or held in Stanford. Usually what you did, or your form.

I don’t do anything interesting!

Have your form? If they have, then you can write about them, or what they did. Ask people in Stanford you know, if they did something cool, and write about it. Have you been to the cinema or theatre recently; read a good book or visited somewhere different? Share your experiences with the Stanford Bloggers!

S6's Form Assembly

On the 1st December S6 did our form assembly on mythical creatures. We did about how tales and stories can tell morals and teach you lessons. For example, King Midas wished for everything he touched to turn to gold. As he wished, Dionysus, the god, granted his wish and let everything he touched to turn to gold. Once King Midas had had his wish for a couple of days he wanted to change it. Everything he touched turned to gold including his food, drink and even his daughter.

Dionysus told him that if he wanted to undo his wish he would have to wash his hands in the River Pactolus. Midas did so and when he returned home ever thing had become normal.

From then on he was a better person, generous and grateful for all goods of his life.

Stanford Students Update

Misha Twardochleb in S7 competed in a British Biathlon and her team came 4th place in running and swimming overall.

George Hills in S1 won two trophies and a certificate for sports in the awards assembly.

V.I.P. Night out at the Theatre!

On Tuesday night I went to the Regent Theatre in Hanley to watch the pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’. I got a VIP experience as my dad had free tickets from Signal 1 because he works there. We had free drinks and luxury food, such as mince pies, in the interval. The pantomime was very funny. We had the programmes for free, and we also had a free Christmas gift. Jonathan Wilkes played Dick Whittington, Louise Dearman played Alice Fitzwarren and there were lots of other funny actors. The whole show was very funny and I definitely recommend going to see it. It is on untill the 4th January 2015 so there is plenty of time to see it.

Christmas Jumper Day!

In 2014, Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day is taking place on Friday 12th December. Now running since 2011, the charity is asking even more people across the UK to help “make the world better with a sweater”.

George in Asda is the official retail partner for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day and the partnership is aiming to raise money of over £750,000! A range of “Save the Children” Christmas jumpers for men, women and children are now on sale, with prices ranging from £7 to £14. The jumpers are raising funds for Save the Children’s vital work in the UK and are available to buy in Asda stores nationwide and online at George.com.

There will also be fundraising in Asda stores across the UK, starting with bucket collections on Friday 5th December, helping to give thousands of the UK’s most disadvantaged children a good start in life and chance to fulfil their potential.

When is our Christmas Jumper Day?

We are asking staff and students to “make the world better with a sweater” by wearing a Christmas jumper for the day and donating £1 to the school’s four main charities.

Christmas Jumper Day 2014 is on Friday 12th December.

Who can take part?

Everyone! We want to spread the jumper joy to offices, schools and homes around the country. So get your workplace, school, friends and family involved, and help us raise money as much as they can to help transform children’s lives.
