What is Anti Bullying Week?
Bullying is a large issue worldwide. Anti-Bullying week is a
UK event held annually in the third week in November. The week aims to raise
awareness of bullying in schools and elsewhere and to highlight ways of
preventing it.
The theme for this year’s anti-bullying week is “Let’s stop
bullying for all.”
In the assembly they speak about Bars and Melody. Bars and
Melody are anti-bullying ambassadors, they are a duo that came 3rd
in X factor and gained a small amount of fame with their song Hopeful. Hopeful
was written by the boys themselves, Leondre Devries and Charlie Lenehan. Their
inspiration was from Leondre’s story of being bullied in primary school.
The Peer Councillors also reminded the colleges that they are
in room 14 (Miss Mitchell’s room) every lunch for anybody who wants to sort out
problems or just chat.
There is also an Anti-bullying week competition. To enter,
demonstrate how initiatives led by young people can help stop bullying and
cyber bullying for everyone, whatever their ability.
You can design a gadget, draw a picture, write a story, song
or poem, take a photo, shoot a film or documentary. The first prize is £300,
with £75 for the runner-up.
